Hobby vs. creative work!
As Mr. Seth Godin has been wonderfully putting into the book Practice as well as some other work, it’s all about helping!
This is what I interpreted and took.
Creative work
The work that matters. The work you put into something which will help someone else. It’s not about you. It’s about that person. Your creativity and the efforts coming together for a better purpose than your happiness alone. We show up to help and not because we felt like. That’s professional creative work.
Hobby
Oh come on, This work matters too! And this work helps someone as well. It’s you. It helps you. It’s about you. It’s about your happiness. It’s meaningful but selfish. No, it’s not bad but it’s not work.
So what?
Ummm, I think this makes things a little bit better for processing in head. Do not confuse what is a hobby and your creative work so you can put the efforts and work accordingly.
